James Clarence Wakeley, better known as Jimmy Wakely (he dropped the second "e" as a teenager), was born on February 16, 1914, in Mineola, Howard County, Arkansas. He was a country western singer and actor from the 1930s through the 1950s. Wakely appeared in radio, movies, and television. Wakely released 15 studio albums, which included his two most popular country singles, "One Has My Name (The Other Has My Heart)" and "I Love You So Much It Hurts," both in 1948. From 1949 to 1952, he appeared in a series of comic books published by DC Comics as "Hollywood's Sensational Cowboy Star." He appeared in over 65 films and TV episodes. Wakely died on September 23, 1982 in California.
The photograph depicts an outdoor scene with Wakely and Cannonball Taylor standing in front of a tree. "Cannonball Taylor" has something white (what looks like whip cream or shaving creme) spilled down his face. Taylor is wearing a denim shirt and jeans with a gun holster around his waist. Wakely is wearing a plaid shirt and black jeans with a black bandana tied around his neck. Wakely has his right hand on Taylor's back, laughing at Taylor's situation. Black print beneath the photograph lists the title, actors' names, production company, and "Made in the U.S."
