DescriptionA Spanish-American War flag dated to 1898. The flag has a dark blue field with an American eagle painted in the center. A shield with the American flag is over the chest of the eagle, and he holds an olive branch and arrows in his talons. A ribbon is in his mouth with a motto, however it is faded. Above the eagle are thirteen five-pointed gold stars, and above those are lines in an arch that create a sun-like-shape over the eagle. Below the eagle is a red banner outlined in gold with filigree. The words are very faded. There also is gold fringe trim around the flag's edge. This flag was never carried into battle.

Arkansas pulled together two regiments during the Spanish-American War but troops were still in training by the time the war ended. There had been more volunteers than those who could be used. Thus, the two Arkansas regiments and this flag never participated in the war.
