DescriptionA medal belonging to Spanish American War veteran and Arkansas native George Wright. The top of the medal has a laurel wreath with an American eagle in the center holding a shield of victory in its talons. The ribbon is the American flag and at the bottom are a crossed cavalry saber, an infantry rifle, and a naval anchor with the word "United" on them. This represents the different branches of the military. Across the silk flag on a badge are two five-point stars on a blue background outlined in bronze. The dangling part of the medal contains the Spanish American War cross inside of a laurel wreath. The four parts of the cross read clockwise, "Cuba,” "Porto Rico," "U.S.A.," and "Philippine Islands." Between each point of the cross is a five-point star. In the center of the cross are three people and naval ship, with the naval ship in the background. The person on the left is holding a rifle, the one in the middle is kneeling with their arms outstretched to the side, and the one on the right is possibly a sailor. Around the people the medal reads, "Spanish War Veteran. 1898-1902." The back side of the cross has the four points labeled "N," "S," "E," and "W" for the cardinal directions and the word "United" is in the center on top of an American flag. The backside of the badge is engraved, "Geo. H. Wright. Ark. 1936-37."

Private George Wright served in Company E, 2nd Arkansas Infantry during the Spanish American War.
