DescriptionA Spanish-American War flag dated to 1898. The flag is that of the standard U.S. pattern flag with thirteen bars alternating in red and white, and forty-five gold colored five-point stars in a blue canton. The seventh bar reads, "1st Ark. Inf. U.S. Vols" in gold lettering. Gold fringe is located on the edges of the flag.

Arkansas pulled together two regiments during the Spanish-American War but troops were still in training by the time the war ended. There had been more volunteers than those who could be used. Thus, the two Arkansas regiments and this flag never participated in the war.
