    DescriptionA green gown and matching coat owned by Betty Bumpers, she wore this outfit to the National Guard of Arkansas Association dinner. The dress is a sleeveless, full-length kelly-green poly-mix dress with a two inch seam at the waist adorned with two rhinestone buttons. The jacket is the same color and is waist-length with three matching rhinestone buttons down the center.

    Betty Bumpers was the thirty-fifth First Lady of Arkansas (1971-1975). Her “Every Child in ‘74” was implemented in 1972, to have every child in the state immunized against childhood diseases. By 1983, 100% of the children in Arkansas were immunized. The program was so successful it was used as a model nationwide. Peace Links, an organization, which Betty founded in 1982, was an effort to persuade political leaders to develop alternatives to nuclear war. She mobilized nearly 200 congressional and gubernatorial women to speak out against the nuclear threat as a solution to global conflicts.
