DescriptionSea foam green gown worn by Betty Bumpers to her husband's Inaugural Ball. The silk, floor-length, sleeveless gown is ornamented with iridescent beads, sequins, and light blue beads and rhinestones around the neckline and down the bodice. Tag inside reads "Kent Originals Ltd."

Betty Bumpers was the thirty-fifth First Lady of Arkansas (1971-1975). Her “Every Child in ‘74” was implemented in 1972, to have every child in the state immunized against childhood diseases. By 1983, 100% of the children in Arkansas were immunized. The program was so successful it was used as a model nationwide. Peace Links, an organization, which Betty founded in 1982, was an effort to persuade political leaders to develop alternatives to nuclear war. She mobilized nearly 200 congressional and gubernatorial women to speak out against the nuclear threat as a solution to global conflicts.
