DescriptionThis quilt is classified as a heritage quilt made by a Black Arkansas quilter. The quilt pattern is described as a “Triangle Strip Quilt” pattern quilt or a variation of “Flags.” The design uses multiple composition fabric, vibrant green floral sashing indicative of a 1960’-1970s style fabric favored during these decades. The quilt strips are uneven with varying sizes of pieced fabric. The strips are arranged and sewn together in three registers vertically with sashing between the registers. The borders are not evenly sized, but it adds to the visual interest of the work. This was one of Mary Allen Smith Williams’ last quilts made before she died in 1971.

Older Description:Triangle Strip pattern quilt. Multiple composition fabric, loud green floral sashing, knots on top, poor quilting, 2-4 stitches per inch, triangle variations, binding lapped over to front, looks like sheeting, 1 piece, medium to thick batting, unwashed.
