    DescriptionA New Year's card from Winthrop and Jeannette Rockefeller. The front of the card contains an oval-shaped black and white picture of the Old State House with the U.S. Navy shell cannon, the "Lady Baxter," which is located on the Old State House grounds. "The Old State House. Little Rock, Arkansas" is written in the bottom right corner. The message on the inside of the card reads, "Remembering many good things shard in the past, may we gratefully share together now the special meaning of this holiday season... And the hope that its spirit will bless all the days of a bright New Year. Jeannette and Win Rockefeller."

    Winthrop Rockefeller was born on May 1, 1912 in New York City, New York. Rockefeller moved to Morrilton, Arkansas in 1953, founding Winrock Farms and entering into state politics shortly thereafter. In 1955, Governor Faubus named Rockefeller to the Arkansas Industrial Development Commission. Rockefeller lost the 1964 Governor's election to Faubus before becoming the thirty-seventh Governor of Arkansas in 1967. He was reelected in 1969. Rockefeller died of pancreatic cancer on February 22, 1973, in Palm Springs, California.
