DescriptionBowie Knife and scabbard that belonged to William T. Green of the 9th Arkansas Infantry. The knife is composed of a symetrical silver metal blade, a dark metal guard, and a stained and finised wood handle. The initials "W.T.G." are carved vertically along the handle. The scabbard consists of black leather joined by metal studs place roughly one inch appart. The surface of the leather is cracked with the black finish flaking, exposing the raw brown leather.

William T. Green enlisted in Pine Bluff on July 27, 1861 in Co. I of the 9th Arkansas Infantry. He transferred to Co. C in April, 1862. He was captured at Champion's Hill in May, 1863 and eventually sent to Point Lookout, Maryland. On Christmas Eve of 1864, he was exhanged in Virginia. In Feb. and in April, 1864, Green was listed as AWOL.
