    DescriptionJohnny Cash record album on Sun Records. The cover (2002.166.11.1) contains black and white photo of Cash standing sideways with his left hand slipped into his left pant pocket. He is wearing a dark colored suit with vest and tie and white shirt. The right side and consisting of a third of the width of the cover is red; the left side or the other two-thirds is white with "Greatest" in yellow writing in a blue rectangle and "Johnny Cash" in red in a yellow rectangle. The front cover is singed by Cash in gold ink. The back of the cover has a grey guitar and biography of Cash in black on a white background. The record inside (2002.166.11.2) is signed in gold ink.

    Johnny Cash was born John R. Cash on February 26, 1932 in Kingsland, Arkansas and raised in Dyess, Arkansas. Nicknamed “The Man in Black”, he was a singer/songwriter, actor and author (writing two autobiographies). He acted in both movies and television (including his own variety show, The Johnny Cash Show). Cash died September 12, 2003.
