James, Maxine, and Bonnie Brown, together known as The Browns, were an American country and folk vocal trio originally from Sparkman, Arkansas. The Browns are best known for their Grammy- nominated hit, “The Three Bells”, from 1959. Other hits include “Scarlet Ribbons”, “The Old Lamplighter” and “Big Daddy”. The siblings appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show and Dick Clark’s American Bandstand. In 1963, the Browns joined the Grand Ole Opry and in 1967, they disbanded.

A rectangular photograph of the Brown trio is positioned in beside the title of the album within a white border. "The Browns Sing Songs from the Little Brown Church Hymnal" is printed in white text along the top of the cover and a list of songs is featured underneath. The RCA Victor Record logo is situated in the top right corner of the album cover. The reverse cover provides a brief history of the Browns and their music career upon an etching of a country church behind a large shade tree. "The Browns Sing Songs from the Little Brown Church Hymnal" was produced by RCA Victor Records in 1961.
