DescriptionComic book featuring Mineola native Jimmy Wakely. Wakely was a singer and actor. The Wakely comic book is 52 pages and was published by DC Comics in January/February of 1950.

James Clarence Wakeley, better known as Jimmy Wakely (he dropped the second "e" as a teenager), was born on February 16, 1914, in Mineola, Howard County, Arkansas. He was a country western singer and actor from the 1930s through the 1950s. Wakely appeared in radio, movies, and television. Wakely released 15 studio albums, which included his two most popular country singles, "One Has My Name (The Other Has My Heart)" and "I Love You So Much It Hurts," both in 1948. From 1949 to 1952, he appeared in a series of comic books published by DC Comics as "Hollywood's Sensational Cowboy Star." He appeared in over 65 films and TV episodes. Wakely died on September 23, 1982 in California.

"Action-packed stories of high adventure on the western trails," according to the cover. "Hollywood's Sensational Cowboy Star!" is printed in small green font across the top. Below that, in large red cursive print, reads "Jimmy Wakely" on a bright yellow background that covers the top third of the cover. The front cover of the comic book depicts Wakely sitting on a haybale, playing his guitar in his cowboy attire. The background looks to be a clapboard building or a fence. The back cover is an advertisement for Red Ryder BB guns. It shows Red Ryder's various models and prices. The comic book has an advertised price of ten cents.
