    DescriptionMabel Parnell's gown she wore during the Inauguration of Harvey Parnell as the twenty-ninth Governor of Arkansas on March 4, 1928. The gown is in a sleeveless chemise style with a 1920s silhouette of black chiffon. The dress features a rounded neckline with a deep yoke that is embroidered with gold and silver beads in a scalloped design. The dress features three horizontal bands of gold and silver beads which circle the skirt from waist to hip level. The skirt flares from the hipline to the ankle. The underskirt has the same scalloped design as the bodice yoke which is heavily embroidered in the same beads. The overskirt hem is scalloped and uneven. A matching embroidered black silk scarf accompanies the gown.
