DescriptionA World War I propaganda poster designed by Sidney H. Riesenberg (1885-1971) and printed by Ketterlinus of Philadelphia dated to 1918. The poster depicts an American solider running up a hill carrying the American flag in bold, solid colors. Above the soldier’s head is "Over the Top For You" in bold, capital yellow text and below the solider is "Buy U.S. Gov't Bonds" in orange and "Third Liberty Loan" also in bold, capital yellow text.

Liberty loans/bonds were sold by the United States government during WWI as a way to finance the war. Citizens would by the bonds, which loaned the money to the government, and the government would repay them at a later date.

Sidney H. Riesenberg was born in Chicago in 1885 and died in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1971. He received his degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and was a professional illustrator.
