Liberty loans/bonds were sold by the United States government during WWI as a way to finance the war. Citizens would by the bonds, which loaned the money to the government, and the government would repay them at a later date.
Sidney H. Riesenberg was born in Chicago in 1885 and died in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1971. He received his degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and was a professional illustrator.
