    DescriptionA cream pitcher owned and used by Mary Jane Conway, First Lady of Arkansas (1836-1840). The Paris patterned china features gold embellishment on the handle, body, and lip of the pitcher.

    Mary Jane "Polly" Conway was born in Wilson County, Tennessee in 1809 and moved to what would be known as Lafayette County, Arkansas. She married James Sevier Conway on December 21, 1826 and became the first Arkansas First Lady in 1836. She passed away February 15, 1878 and was buried in her family plot in Walnut Hill.
