    DescriptionChild's brown wool jacket with black decorative cord trim on the front sides and the back. The jacket has no buttons, polished cotton lining and double vents on the back. Small tab closure at front neck. Lined in black and white cotton. Worn by Frederick Westphal and possibly handcrafted by his mother, Sophia Ozment Westpahal of Walnut Ridge, Arkansas.

    The Westphal family immigrated from Germany in the 1870s and settled in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas. They are one of three of the original settler families in the area.
