DescriptionLobby Card from the movie "Springtime in Texas," starring Mineola native Jimmy Wakely.

James Clarence Wakeley, better known as Jimmy Wakely (he dropped the second "e" as a teenager), was born on February 16, 1914, in Mineola, Howard County, Arkansas. He was a country western singer and actor from the 1930s through the 1950s. Wakely appeared in radio, movies, and television. Wakely released 15 studio albums, which included his two most popular country singles, "One Has My Name (The Other Has My Heart)" and "I Love You So Much It Hurts," both in 1948. From 1949 to 1952, he appeared in a series of comic books published by DC Comics as "Hollywood's Sensational Cowboy Star." He appeared in over 65 films and TV episodes. Wakely died on September 23, 1982 in California.

The card shows Wakely standing in a newspaper office with three other men and a woman (presumably Kitty Stevens, editor, according to the name card in front of her). Wakely is wearing a brownish top and bluish pants with a gray cowboy hat in his hands. In the bottom right corner is a red rectangle with yellow and white print that reads, "Jimmy Wakely / Springtime in Texas / A Monogram Picture."
