    “A Face in the Crowd” was written by Budd Schulberg and was based on his short story "Your Arkansas Traveler." The story centers on a drifter named Larry "Lonesome" Rhodes, who is discovered by the producer (Neal) of a small-market radio program in rural northeast Arkansas. Rhodes gains celebrity as a singer and becomes drunk with power. The movie takes place in a fictional Arkansas town called Pickett and was filmed in Piggott (Clay County), Arkansas and Paragould (Greene County), Arkansas.
