DescriptionThe June-July edition and fifth issue of the comic book "The Adventures of Alan Ladd," a nine-issue series that featured title actor and Hot Springs native Alan Ladd in adventurous situations. The comic book was published by DC Comics from 1949 to 1951. Alan Ladd was born September 3, 1913, in Hot Springs, Arkansas, and lived in Arkansas until around the age of five. He was an actor who appeared in over 80 films and was one of the most recognizable celebrities of the 1940s and '50s. He starred in such films as "Two Years before the Mast," "The Blue Dahlia," and "The Great Gatsby." However, Ladd is perhaps best known for his role in the 1953 western movie "Shane." Ladd died on January 29, 1964.
The cover is red with yellow lettering and shows Ladd walking crouched over down a set of stairs with a gun in his right hand and a woman's leg following behind him down the stairs. In the bottom left corner in a blue circle in white lettering reads, "Destination Danger!" The comic has an advertised price of ten cents and contains 52 pages.
