DescriptionBadge from the Grand Army of the Republic. The Grand Army of the Republic was a society for Union veterans.Four tiers. The top tier is the pin in the shape of an eagle sitting on top of two crossed cannons. From the pins hangs a 2nd tier. In red, white and blue letters: "G.A.R.". The third tier shows an outline of Chattanooga's skyline with "Chattanooga, Tenn" underneath. The 4th tier is a round hanging medallion. A raised image of a man in the center of the medallion. Around the medallion: "Forty-Seventh National Encampment/G.A.R./September 15-20/1913" At one time, a yellow ribbon laid underneath the badge but it is missing.
