DescriptionA decorative spoon issued to commemorate the Louisville Grand Army of the Republic. The spoon features images associated with the Civil War including crossed cannons, a stars and stripes shield, an eagle, a star, the G.A.R. seal, and text which states "G.A.R.", "Louisville Twenty-Ninth National Encampment", "1895", and "United We Stand, Divided We Fall". The Grand Army of the Republic was a fraternal organization comprised of veterans of Union Army, Union Navy, Marines, and the U.S. Revenue Cutter's office who served in the Civil War for the Northern forces.
