    DescriptionCarte de visite of Captain Henry Kroeger, Company F, 43rd Illinois Infantry. Kroeger was from Rock Island, Illinois, which is where is he joined the Union Army at the age of 37 in Sept., 1861 as a 1st Lieut.. He mustered into service at Otterville, MO, serving first in Co. E and then in Co. I. Resigned April 6, 1865. Kroeger ended the war as a captain. He listed himself as German, married and a carpenter. He also lists himself as 5'4" with light hair and blue eyes.
