    DescriptionCarte de visite of Captain Samuel Schiminger (Schimminger), Company B, 43rd Illinois Infantry. Schimminger was from Mascoutah, Illinois where he joined the Union Army in August, 1861 at the age of 25. He mustered into service at Otterville, MO. He was mustered out of service on Sep 26, 1864. He re-enlisted as Captain of Company D, 149th Illinois Infantry in Feb 1864. He saw service in Tennessee and Georgia. He lists himself as a tailor and originally from Baltimore, Maryland.
    Samuel died at the age of 30 on Jan. 4, 1870. He is buried in Walnut Hill Cemetery in Belleville, Illinois.
