    DescriptionTintype photograph of Union Captain George Hoering. Hoering was from Mascoutah, Illinois. He joined the Union army at the age of 21 in August, 1861. He mustered into service at Otterville, MO. He lists himself as German and a carpenter by trade. He enlisted as a 1st Lieut. and ended the war as a captain.
