    DescriptionCarte de visite of Major General James Birdseye McPherson. McPherson commanded the Union Army of Tennessee. He was killed during the Battle of Atlanta, Ga. He was the highest ranking Union officer killed during the Civil War.

    Rectangular piece of light brown card stock paper with a smaller rectangular image adhered to the front. The reverse of the card reads "Joslyn & Baldwin, Photographers of the Army of the Tennessee.
