    A badge can be seen on Shillings left coat breast. This badge, crescent moon over star, was the insignia of the Union VII Army Corps, Department of Arkansas, Commanded by General Fredrick Steele. This Corps was comprised of regiments from Illinois, Minnesota, Iowa, Ohio, Kansas, and Wisconsin.

    Rectangular piece of light brown card stock paper with a smaller rectangular image adhered to the front. Photograph taken in Little Rock, Arkansas. Written on back: "Yours truly Herman Schilling".
