    DescriptionCarte de visite of Captain Hugo Westermann. Westermann was promoted to Major when the 43rd Illinois Infantry was consolidated. He mustered out of service as Lt. Colonal of the regiment.

    Rectangular piece of light brown card stock paper with a smaller rectangular image adhered to the front. The image depicts a man standing in Union military dress against a blank wall. The man has short dark hair, a substantial beard, and his left hand on the hilt of his sword. The reverse of the image is blank, but the album inscription identified the man as Captain Hugo Westermann.
