Nonesuch Records produced the album in 1972.

    Scott Joplin (c.1867/1868-1917) was an American composer and pianist who was raised in Texarkana, Arkansas. Joplin achieved fame for his ragtime compositions and was dubbed “The King of Ragtime”. During his career, he wrote 44 original ragtime compositions including “Maple Leaf Rag”, one of ragtime’s most influential hits. Joplin’s death is widely considered to have marked the end of ragtime as a mainstream music format and, in 1976, Joplin was posthumously awarded a Pulitzer Prize.
