DescriptionA Scott Joplin album entitled "The Best of Scott Joplin". Joplin lived in Texarkana, Arkansas during his childhood.

Scott Joplin (c.1867/1868-1917) was an American composer and pianist who was raised in Texarkana. Joplin achieved fame for his ragtime compositions and was dubbed “The King of Ragtime”. During his career, he wrote 44 original ragtime compositions including “Maple Leaf Rag”, one of ragtime’s most influential hits. Joplin’s death is widely considered to have marked the end of ragtime as a mainstream music format and, in 1976, Joplin was posthumously awarded a Pulitzer Prize.

A Scott Joplin album entitled "The Best of Scott Joplin". The album cover features a painted image of Joplin holding a quill and a role of sheet music. Along the bottom of the composition, a piano, guitar and landscape are painted as well. An ornate gold frame is painted around Joplin's head. The background of the album cover is an image of three wood panels. "The Best of Scott Joplin" was produced by Vanguard Recording Society in 1972.
