DescriptionColt model 1851 revolver. .36 caliber made of brass, steel, and wood. The gun is a third model (1851) with an octagonal barrel. Cap & ball. The handle is made of two pieces of finish wood and brass with a brass trigger guard. "Address Sam Colt Hartford Ct." stamped on the barrel. Serial number "85472" is engraved on chamber 3 times in front of trigger and 1 time on bottom of grip strap. However, the cylinder is marked with "85742" - the 4 and 7 are reversed. Varnished walnut grip, 6 shot. Roll engraved cylinder scene of a battle between the Texas Navy and Mexico.
