The barrels are Damascus steel with the words "Dumoulin Brothers" and "London & Liege" inscribed on them. Proofmarks on the underside of the barrel indicate that the barrel was produced by the Dumoulin Brothers in Liege, Belgium between 1878 and 1893. Such markings include the figure of The Perron (a monument in Liege), the letters "ELG" and a star all enclosed in a circle, and the words "NON POUR BALLE."
