    DescriptionThis object consists of two hand written letters. The The first was written on June 26, 1866, and comes from the Treasury Department. It is written by E.B. Lunch to E.L. Joy of the 36th Iowa Infantry. The second letter was written in July of 1866 and is penned by E.L. Joy, written to the Paymaster General in Washington D.C. It states that the Paymaster in New York refuses to pay Joy upon his mustering out of the U.S. Army. He describes his service during, and after, the Civil War and requests payment for the services that he has rendered.
