DescriptionThis East India Pattern Musket (a flintlock made by the British), was the standard musket for the Mexican Army until after the U.S.-Mexican War. Mexican soldiers referred to the muskets as "fusiles de Ingles." The flintlock mechanism on this gun has the word "Miguel" and the number "1843" engraved upon it, indicating either a soldier who carried the gun or a gunsmith who worked on this piece.
