DescriptionThis is a souvenir tray sold at the 1904 World's Fair in St. Louis. The tray is in a rectangle shape and is concave in the center. The recessesed (concave) part is bordered by the non-recessed part which is .025 inches and has flowers on it. The center (concave) area has an image of a man (Uncle Sam) with his left hand holding a bag of money and his right hand is reaching for the Louisana Purchase treaty from a lady (Lady France) who is holding the Treaty in her left hand. Her right hand is reaching for the money. Above the two is the writing, "Historic Souvenir of The Louisana Purchase," under these words are "1803" and "1903." There is an eagle directly below the two figures with his wings spread open. The eagle is clutching in his claws, two flags, one U.S. and oone France. In the background to the right of Lady France is an image of Thomas Jefferson. Directly behind the eagle is a broken Titantic ship. On the bottom of the tray appears, "1904." The entire tray is covered with a yellow-gold paint giving it an antique look with the gray metal marbeled in with the black paint. On the back of the tray appears "Copyrighted by I.G.K."
