    DescriptionCotton, hand quilted with white thread, white cotton backing. Maker inscribed "Wheeler" & "1888" on reverse in one corner. Sixteen solid, dark blue blocks containing sixteen "wheels," pieced from cotton fabric of varying patterns and colors. Fading of six blue blocks is evident. Two top middle blocks appear to have water stains. Solid red cotton strips, approximately 5 1/2" wide, connect blocks. Quilt is put together in three sections as evident by seams on reverse.

    Made by Mary E. Johnson. Born October 23, 1835 in Alabama. Died November 20, 1910 in Izard County, Arkansas. Buried in Nail Cemetery in Izard County.
