Albert Pike (1809–1891) was a prominent 19th-century Arkansas lawyer, poet, journalist, and Confederate brigadier general who significantly shaped early Arkansas politics and the Southern Scottish Rite of Freemasonry. Known as a complex figure, he was a staunch secessionist, a renowned Masonic leader, and worked to align Native American tribes with the Confederacy.
