Description10 cent defense stamp album belonging to Nancy Hall. The front of the booklet reads: "For the purchase of United States Defense Savings Bonds." Beneath the title, hand-written in pencil, is "L 9 9 1 2 8" (?). A picture of a bald eagle holdng the american flag is printed on the cover. Inside there are slots for 10 cent stamps, with values going up to $18.70. Three of the slots in the book have stamps in them. Nancy Johnson Hall (1904–1991) was the first woman in Arkansas to be elected to a constitutional office. Upon the death of her husband C.G. "Crip" Hall in 1961, she was appointed to serve the remainder of his term as secretary of state by Governor Orval Faubus. Hall then went on to be elected as Arkansas state treasurer in 1962, running unopposed in the general election as a Democrat. Hall served as treasurer for 18 years.
