The cartoon is titled "Nancy at the Bridge." At the bottom, there is a hand-written note in blue ink which reads: "To my friend Nancy (Mrs. C.G.) with apologies and best wishes -- Jon kenedey 1-31-1962Nancy Johnson Hall (1904–1991) was the first woman in Arkansas to be elected to a constitutional office. Upon the death of her husband C.G. "Crip" Hall in 1961, she was appointed to serve the remainder of his term as secretary of state by Governor Orval Faubus. Hall then went on to be elected as Arkansas state treasurer in 1962, running unopposed in the general election as a Democrat. Hall served as treasurer for 18 years.
