    DescriptionThe "American State Reports" volumes 1-140 set from 1907. This set belonged to Governor Jeff Davis. Beige leather bound books with red square label with "American State Reports" stamped in gold. Black square label with states and page numbers are also stamped on the spine. Volumes 1-121. The books have a black label with Jeff Davis stamped in gold. [Milton J. Robinson, Attorney at Law, Stuttgart, Arkansas] stamped inside front and back cover of all books, and is also stamped on the spine of some books. Some books have red diamond shape labels on the spine with book numbers stamped in gold.

    Jefferson "Jeff" Davis was born in Rocky Comfort, Arkansas on May 6, 1862. Davis served as the twentieth Governor of Arkansas from 1901 to 1907. Although his administration was said to have "produced more politics than government," Davis succeeded in building a new state house and reforming the penal system. Davis passed away on January 3, 1913 in Little Rock, Arkansas.
