DescriptionWooden chair from the University of Arkansas Medical Sciences Anatomy Department. The Old State House was the second home to the medical school housed between 1911 to 1935. The Medical School was founded in 1879 by the State Medical Society. It became an independent department of Arkansas Industurial University (now the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville). With the recommendation by the American Medical Association to improve standards the UA Medical Department merged with the College of Physicians and Surgeons in 1911, and relocated to the Old State House till 1935.
