    DescriptionA print distributed by Pope Manufacturing Co. advertising a Columbia bicycle priced at $100. The Pope Manufacturing Company was the leader in United States bicycle production from 1878-1896. The advertisement features an illustration of a woman resting from a bicycle ride while reading a painted board that states: "Columbia Bicycles $100". The woman is depicted wearing a brown skirt, jacket, striped shirt, and brown hat. She is shown with a Columbia bicycle. There is a mark in the upper left corner of the advertisement that states: "That plate means Columbia, the best bicycle" and text in the lower right corner states: "Pope Mfg. Co., Makers of Columbia Bicycles, Hartford, Conn.", "Boston, New York, Chicago, Providence, Buffalo, San Francisco", and "The Columbia Art Catalogue free at any agency by mail for two 2-cent stamps. Tells of all Columbia and Hartford Bicycles."
