DescriptionA press book from the 1972 film "Legend of Boggy Creek", which was written by Arkansas resident Charles B. Pierce.

The film was directed and produced by Charles B. Pierce (1938-2010), a producer, director, and actor. Although born in Indiana, Pierce's family moved to Texarkana, Arkansas, right after he was born. Pierce made a number of movies about the South during his career, including "The Town that Dreaded Sundown," a film based on the serial killer the Phantom from Texarkana, Arkansas, during the 1940s. "Bootleggers," a film about moonshining in the Ozarks, was Pierce's second film after "The Legend of Boggy Creek."

Press books, which were published by film distributors as a marketing ploy, were intended to encourage cinema owners to promote films by providing the managers with a plethora of promotional materials. These materials included plot synopses, behind-the-scenes stories and photographs, movie stills, posters, lobby cards, and life-size cardboard character standees that were intended to be placed in cinema foyers. Press books were most prominent from the 1920s until the end of the 1940s, which was at the height of filmgoing.
