DescriptionPress photograph of Katharine Alexander in the movie "John Loves Mary." Alexander was born in Fort Smith.Katharine Alexander was born September, 1898 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. She was an actress who appeared on Broadway from 1917-1948 and in 44 films from 1930-1951. She had originally planned to be a concert violinist when she was discovered by Samuel Goldwyn and went on to be one of Broadway’s leading ladies. Alexander died January 10, 1981 in Tyron, North Carolina.
