DescriptionPress photograph of Katharine Alexander from the movie "The Devil is a Sissy." Alexander was born in Fort Smith.Katharine Alexander was born September, 1898 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. She was an actress who appeared on Broadway from 1917-1948 and in 44 films from 1930-1951. She had originally planned to be a concert violinist when she was discovered by Samuel Goldwyn and went on to be one of Broadway’s leading ladies. Alexander died January 10, 1981 in Tyron, North Carolina.
