    DescriptionWalnut veneer box, lid lined with navy blue velvet with brass plate on lid. Brass locking mechanism marked "BSGDG" - brass key hole. Rectangular with corner triangles drawn in bottom, in pencil. Within the box are miscellaneous brass and steel drafting tools and a steel key to the box. All of the items are in removable walnut tray lined in navy blue velvet.

    The letters B.S.G.D.G. likely stand for "Brevetè Sans Garantie Du Gouvernement," which translates as "patented without guarantee of government." These letters were applied to French-made goods as early as 1844.
