DescriptionLetter written by General M. Jeff Thompson in Lewisville, Arkansas to Missouri Governor Thomas C. Reynolds. Mailed to Marshall, Texas. Thompson mentions his appointment to command the Northern Sub-District of Arkansas. He also mentions a court of inquiry, a feud between Reynolds and Gen. Sterling Price. Reynolds charged that Price used two other officers as scapegoats for his own failures during his failed Missouri raid in October, 1864. Thompson surrendered his command at Chalk Bluff, Missouri on May 11, 1865.
