Conway Twitty was born Harold Jenkins on Sept. 1, 1933, in the small town of Friars Point, Miss. His father, a riverboat pilot, taught him his first guitar chords when Conway was just 4 years old. From a black church in the town, he heard the sounds of gospel, and every Saturday night the family gathered around the radio for the Grand Ole Opry. His family moved to Helena, Ark., when he was 10, and there he put together his first band, the Phillips County Ramblers. Two years later, he had his own local radio show every Saturday morning.
A Conway Twitty album entitled "Hello Darlin'". The album cover features a photograph of Twitty dressed in orange and holding a guitar. The album background is black with "Conway Twitty", "Hello Darlin'", and a song list printed in yellow and white. The album was produced by MCA Records in 1973.
