DescriptionLobby card for the movie "A Face in the Crowd," starring Andy Griffith. The movie is based on Budd Schulberg's short story "Your Arkansas Traveler" and portions of the film are set and were filmed in Northeast Arkansas. In 2008 the film was selected for preservation by the National Film Registry.

The screenplay was written by Budd Schulberg and was based on his short story "Your Arkansas Traveler." The story centers on a drifter named Larry "Lonesome" Rhodes, who is discovered by the producer (Neal) of a small-market radio program in rural northeast Arkansas. Rhodes gains celebrity as a singer and becomes drunk with power. The movie takes place in a fictional Arkansas town called Pickett and was filmed in Piggott (Clay County), Arkansas.
