DescriptionCarte de Visite photograph of Edward M. Pike. Edward Pike was born on July 1, 1838 in Casco, Cumberland Co., Maryland. He enlisted in the Union Army as a sergeant on Aug. 21, 1861 and served in Co. A of the 33rd Illinois Infantry. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for action under fire during a battle at the Cache River in Arkansas. Pike mustered out on October 11, 1864. He died August 10, 1924 and is buried in Payne Cemetery in Chenoa, Illinois.The photograph was taken at E.R. Gard's Photographic Art Palace in Chicago. It's inside a paper frame.
